These videos are from recent R/C high speed demonstrations in Germany. Let’s assume they are potential drone threats.
A detection range of 3 miles (~5 km) would give you a response time of 35 seconds for the airplane and 62 seconds for the helicopter. Compare that to the around six minutes of response time for a DJI Phantom flying near its top speed.
Fortunately, these are unique situations and these aircraft are the exception rather than the rule. But when considering drone threats, it’s important to recognize not all threats will be “slow” Phantoms.
